Its eyes glowed with hunger as it descended, claws scraping against the wet concrete. A figure, lost in the mist, froze under its unblinking gaze. By dawn, the snow was stained dark, the figure vanished without a trace, and only the stone gargoyle remained, watching with a sinister grin, waiting for the next soul to wander too close.
